About Facility
The current Butler County Adult Detention Facility opened in January of 2003. It is a modern, 230-bed facility located one mile east of El Dorado, Kansas on Stone Road, south of US Highway 54. The facility employees approximately 60 full time detention deputies and assignments include security, operations, prisoner transportation, and supervision.
The facility houses inmates from not only Butler County, but also the US Marshal Service, Immigration and Naturalization Service, and various other outside law enforcement agencies. Staff of the Detention Division are committed to providing a safe and secure environment to the inmates within the facility and to the county’s citizens by maintaining this security.
The facility is equipped with an on-site staffed medical unit and offers a variety of service and assistance programs to inmates as well.

REMINDER: Please be reminded that some services provided to inmates, such as Commissary, Email, Phone and Visistation are PRIVILEGES. These privileges are provided for the benefit and morale of our inmate population but are also subject to restriction, temporary suspension and termination.
INMATE PHONE AND VIDEO VISITATION
The Butler County Detention Facility is partnered with NCIC Technologies to provide inmate Phone and Video Visitation. Please visit the NCIC website for information regarding video visits from home, phone services, and frequently asked questions. JAIL ATM
The Butler County Detention Facility is partnered with CBM Managed Services to provide the inmate Commissary and Banking services for the facility. CBM Managed Services has also been a long term partner in providing the facility's inmate food service needs. CBM Managed Services makes available inmate commissary and banking services through the JailATM website and Lockdown software.
COMMISSARY
Inmates have the ability to order commissary items while at the facility using funds from their inmate bank account. Friends and Family may use the JailATM website to purchase commissary items directly for an inmate. The current purchase limit, per inmate, per order period is $96.00 regardless of the number of Friends and Family making purchases.
Commissary orders may be placed throughout the week. Orders for the previous week are processed each MONDAY and delivered each FRIDAY.
Commissary menu items may be individually restricted based on an inmate’s dietary needs or housing status.

DEPOSITS AND BANKING

Deposits may be made to an inmate’s account by either using the JailATM website or by visiting the Butler County Detention Facility lobby and using the deposit ATM during public hours. Deposit fees may apply.

Inmate Mail - Important Update
In an effort to keep contraband out of the Butler County Detention Facility, the Butler County Sheriff's Office is implementing a new system for sending documents, photos and mail to inmates.
If you wish to send documents, photos and mail to inmates, we now have a quicker and more efficient method using our new Inmate Messaging system where you just go to www.NCIC.com and set up an account. You can then easily send messages to an inmate for instant delivery. You can also take a picture of any documents and attach to these messages. Messages are only $0.25 per message and Picture Messages / Documents are only $0.35 per picture. This is much cheaper than postage, envelopes and the time it takes to mail a letter, and the inmate will receive the message and/or picture instantly. There will be no limits on how many messages and photos that can be sent to the inmates.
All inmate mail must be mailed to the following address utilizing existing Butler County Sheriff's Office Jail mail rules:

WARNING
Any mail that is sent to this address for processing will NOT be returned or released. Once the mail is processed and received electronically by the inmate, it will be destroyed. This includes pictures or anything else mailed to the facility. By sending mail to this address, you agree to the items being destroyed and understand that anything you mail will not be returned or reimbursed for.
All envelopes and mail must include the inmate name and Sheriff's Office booking number as well as a return address. Only mail that is within 8.5 inches wide x 11 inches tall will be accepted.
Mail sent to inmates must contain NO MORE THAN 5 PAGES. Anything over 5 pages will NOT be sent to the inmate and will be returned to the sender.
All mail that is entered into the system will be entered front side only. Do NOT write on the back of pages, as only the front will be sent to the inmate.
Inmates may receive a maximum of 1 photo per mailing. If more than 1 photo is mailed, the entire letter and all its contents will be returned to sender and nothing will be scanned in or delivered to the inmate.
No magazines, bulk mailing, newspapers or books will be accepted at this address and will be returned to sender.
Once mail is received for processing, it will be scanned in at the central processing location and then sent to the inmate electronically via the same messaging system referenced above. The inmate can then view it on the kiosk in their cell.
There will be no exceptions for receiving mail that does not follow the above guidelines.
