The Butler County Sheriff’s Office is a full service law enforcement agency serving Butler County, Kansas. Butler County is the largest county in the State of Kansas, with approximately 1,472 square miles. The Sheriff of Butler County is an elected official who serves a term of four-years between each election.

About the Sheriff'S Office

 

The Sheriff’s Office is charged, by statute, with providing all primary law enforcement services within Butler County. This agency also provides related law enforcement services to the entire county, including civil and criminal process, assistance to municipal agencies, crime prevention programs, security for the Butler County Court House, and an adult detention facility.

 

The Sheriff’s Office employees over 125 deputies, support and administrational staff, and a few part-time deputies.  The Sheriff’s Office has several divisions and specially trained sub-groups to serve the citizens of Butler County.  The Sheriff’s Office also maintains a full service SWAT Team derived from officers of various assignments within the department to respond when needed.
